Dr. Evelyn Wages

RBES has been my school home since the school opened in August, 2002.  I love being at RBES each day, and I feel very fortunate to work in such a wonderful school!  Previously, I taught in Franklin, Clarke, and Madison counties.  I also served as the assistant principal at Comer Elementary School in Madison County before coming to Oconee.  When RBES opened, I was excited to help open an extraordinary school, and it has been rewarding to focus on continuous improvement across time.  It was a great honor to be named the RBES principal in 2009!  I love the students here, and I appreciate the support from parents and the community.  We have an excellent staff of caring people who work hard to help students achieve high standards.  Our motto, Recognizing the Brilliance of Every Student, really represents our belief that every student has much to offer and gifts to develop.  I love trying to find each student's strengths and helping open doors for them to develop areas of contribution.

I married Lamar Wages in 1984, and we are blessed to have had the opportunity to raise two daughters, Natalie and Cynthia.  We added a son, Jon, when he and Natalie married in 2013. Time with family is a priority when I am not at RBES!

I am thrilled to be a Quad Dog as a 4-time graduate of the University of Georgia! Most recently, I completed a doctoral program of study in Educational Leadership in 2015.

It is my privilege to serve with a faculty and staff who have earned STEM Certification for RBES. The distinction as a National School of Character is an honor as well, and it is important that students consider where they will make use of their strong academic skills to improve the community. The 11 Principles of Character Education are implemented at RBES to help students develop vision and kindness that will lead them to important career endeavors in the future. Through STEM challenges, service projects, and character development lessons, it is the aim of the RBES staff to truly Recognize the Brilliance in Every Student and to set students on an educational path that opens doors for them as they go forward.

Oconee County Schools will be a nationally-recognized leader in academic achievement by ensuring all students receive a rigorous, balanced education that will enable them to compete in and contribute to a global society.
