Laura Mason

I have been the Assistant Principal at RBES since 2009.   I would describe RBES in one word… community.  The staff, parents, and students are like one big family.   Everyone works together to provide an extraordinary experience for our students.  At RBES, we strive to not only teach academics, but we also reinforce skills vital for the future.  Our students learn how to solve problems, collaborate, think critically, and be intrinsically motivated to not only achieve, but excel.

I grew up in Greensboro, GA, and it was there that I spent my first 12 years teaching special education and as an Instructional Lead Teacher.  Moving to Oconee County in 2006, I had the opportunity to teach at Oconee County Elementary before becoming Assistant Principal at RBES.

My husband is Steve Mason; and we are blessed to have two children, Will and Grace.  I am a proud UGA alumni having received my undergraduate and master’s degrees in Special Education and specialist degree in Educational Leadership.  Each fall, you will still find me “between the hedges!”

Please explore our website!  It provides a wealth of information and resources for parents and gives more insight into the how we strive to Recognize the Brilliance in Every Student!

Oconee County Schools will be a nationally-recognized leader in academic achievement by ensuring all students receive a rigorous, balanced education that will enable them to compete in and contribute to a global society.
