Parents at RBES:
Our PTO is dedicated to making sure that Rocky Branch has the support it needs to educate our children to the best of its abilities.
Whether you can volunteer your time during the day, at night, or on the weekends, Rocky Branch needs you! Your involvement has a direct affect on your child’s quality of education and activities. Every hour that we work for the school is more time that our teachers can focus on educating our children.
Below, you will find a list of committees for which we will need volunteers.
Rocky Branch PTO Committees and Year Round Events:
Class Liaisons:
Parent volunteers help plan classroom parties, update the Teacher information book, and help organize a class directory for that class. These items can be done from home/email and will greatly improve class communication and participation in school functions. We would love to have a representative from each class.
Book Fair:
Two book fairs are held during the year in September and March; planning begins at least one month before; opportunities include decorating the media center; working the book fair; setup and take down.
Da$h for Excellence:
The Da$h event is a fun run that the students participate in by running or walking as many laps as they can in the allotted time. This is our largest fundraiser of the year! Lots of volunteers are needed to help prepare/setup/encourage kids on Oct. 19th (race day) and help at Reward Ceremony (DTBA)
Hearing/Vision Screening:
Parents volunteers help the nurse screen every child for hearing and vision.
Coupon Book Sales:
RBES’s second fundraiser starts in the spring. Parent volunteers will help with the school wide sale, data & money collecting, and awards/prize parties.
Box Tops Collection:
Parent volunteers help count the Box Tops (3 times a year) to send in to the company.
Media Center:
Parent volunteers needed all year long; help re-shelve books and to check out/in books from students.
Fine Arts:
Parent volunteers help hang artwork, help with plays/musicals – sets, costumes, pictures/picture DVD.
Staff Appreciation:
Volunteers help chairman coordinate events, treats and other activities that show our appreciation to the staff at RBES: Christmas, Valentine’s and End of year are several times that we need help from volunteers.
Spirit Wear:
Volunteers will help sell t-shirts, take account of classes and spirit day participation, and plan reward parties.
Grounds:
Several volunteers needed to help with the upkeep of the grounds at RBES, usually on specific Saturdays.
Spring Ice Cream Social:
This event is during Book Fair in March. Parent volunteers will help serve ice cream, setup and cleanup.
Spring Picnic/Fling:
PTO sponsors a family supper that is free to RBES families. Volunteers are needed to help setup, cleanup and serve.
Volunteer Hours:
PTO needs a volunteer to count up and report all volunteer hours on a monthly basis (can be done at home).
Classroom Yearbook Photographer:
At least one dedicated photographer per homeroom to capture smiling faces and classroom memories throughout the year for the yearbook. Pictures could be from parties, awards, classroom activities, lunchroom, playground, and candids. A digital camera with at least 4 megapixels is required.
Family Fun Nights:
We will have several events throughout the year, including a Family Movie Night, where we will need parent volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up, and various duties throughout the night.
PIE Spirit Nights: Needed still Committee head for this area:
The committee head will obtain the schedule of Spirit Nights set up by our principal, and advertise/encourage participation. This person will then follow through with the business after the Spirit Night to collect the donated amount.
***If any of these sound interesting to you, please email Shari King at sking4uga@hotmail.com, with the name or names of the areas of interest.
***If you can only volunteer on the weekends or at night, please let us know that as well; we will only contact you with opportunities that can be done at those times.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Many volunteer opportunities occur before, during, and after the actual event. Dates listed below are the actual event dates.
