Mrs. Emily Kellman

Emily is an educator who has a passion for sharing her love of other cultures and the Spanish language. She enjoys traveling and looks forward to new opportunities to keep her involved in her community.  While attending Loganville High School, Emily’s interest for the Spanish culture and language began after participating in mission trips to Mexico. Also, Emily has spent many summers in Spain.  During her time as a student at UGA, she studied at the University of Salamanca where she experienced the Running of the Bulls and traveling on train to beautiful cities such as Barcelona.

After graduating from The University of Georgia in 2001, she began teaching and has taught all ages from Pre-Kindergarten to adults. After graduating college, Emily began her teaching career at Conyers Middle School. She has worked as translator and interpreter for medical businesses.  She taught Head Start for two years assisting lower income families. In 2005, Emily returned to Loganville High School to teach all levels of Spanish.

In 2007, after purchasing her home in Athens, Emily began teaching at North Oconee while working with students in various clubs such as Spanish Club, MedLife and the Freshmen Class. She is also the Coorinator of RTI, a program that gives extra support for all students. She completed her Masters in School Counseling in 2009, as well as her Specialist degree in Instructional Technology last year. One of her most enjoyable aspects of teaching is getting to know her students and helping them in Spanish, but also being there for them emotionally as well. While teaching at North Oconee, Emily earned gifted certification and continues to look for new ways to grow professionally as well as personally!
