I began teaching in 2000. I am delighted to be teaching in Oconee County and in the community where I live.
I believe the classroom should be an environment where students feel safe to try new things and that mistakes are a part of learning. I foster an environment where students are challenged every day to do their best and to believe in themselves. I model a love of learning and believe that even though we work hard, we can have fun doing it.
Though I am originally from Albany, Georgia, I have been living in the Athens / Oconee area since 1980. I am married to Edy Aguilar, an RN at Athens Regional and have two children, Luke and Ansley who both graduated from Oconee County Schools.
