Hello! My name is Amanda Burke, and I teach 5th grade ELA (reading and language arts) at High Shoals Elementary School. Prior to teaching in Oconee County, I taught in Gwinnett County. Over the years, I have taught kindergarten, second, fourth, and fifth grades. I hope to pass my passion for literacy on to my students. I’ve been married for over 30 years, and I have four wonderful children-three are all grown up, and my youngest is a college student. My greatest joy as a teacher is when I can help a reluctant reader transform into a “Reading Machine” (as I playfully love to call them). I love teaching! I’m so very thankful I get to work with such an amazing group of children and their supportive families here in Oconee County.
