Dr. Susan Stancil

Dr. Susan Stancil is the Chief Academic Officer for Oconee County Schools. Prior to this position, she was principal at Dove Creek Elementary School and has been working in the public school setting since 2005. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of West Georgia. She also holds a Master's degree in Special Education, a Specialist degree in Special Education, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Policy - all from the University of Georgia.  

Dr. Stancil started teaching in the special education setting in Barrow County. After working as her elementary school's Special Education department chair, she was hired at the district level as a Special Education Coordinator. She later became the assistant principal of Malcom Bridge Middle School in 2011 and was excited to work in the community where she was raising her family. She completed her first year as principal of Malcom Bridge Elementary School in 2015 and opened Dove Creek Elementary School in 2018. Additionally, she has three children, and she and her husband have lived in Oconee County since 2005.

Dr. Stancil is excited about continuing her service and leadership in a district with such an amazing group of highly qualified and dedicated staff, wonderful students, and supportive parents.
