Clubs at HSES at a Glance
High Shoals Elementary provides a suite of afterschool extracurricular activities to enrich our students. Some of these rotate every six weeks. Please see the list below for more information.
HSES Art Club--Current
This term the HSES Art Club will be exploring the sculptures of the first Chinese Emperor, which depict life sized terracotta sculptures of his army. The Art Club meets all year and changes themes periodically.
HSES Chorus Club--Current
The HSES Chorus Club is offered to our 2nd - 5th grade students as an after-school club each Fall. Chorus provides an opportunity for students to develop their musicality through singing in an ensemble. Students in Chorus Club will learn about the importance of proper breathing through warm-ups and singing exercises and practice responsible rehearsal habits. They will improve their score-reading skills as they perform a variety of repertoire from different historical periods and foreign languages. Most importantly, they will experience the joy of singing together!
Beta Club-Coming Soon
HSES Beta Club is limited to fifth grade students.
The mission statement of the National Beta Club is “to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. To reward meritorious achievement and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school.” The Beta Club organization focuses on four key areas in order to carry out their mission statement. These areas are:
Achievement-Recognizing and honoring high academic achievement
Character-Preparing young people for life and empowering them to be successful
Leadership-Developing the leaders of tomorrow
Service-Demonstrating our motto: Let Us Lead by Serving Others
Orffestra Club-Coming Soon
The HSES Orffestra Club is offered to our 3rd - 5th grade students as an after-school club each Spring. Orffestra is an instrument ensemble that uses mallet instruments such as the xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels. The name, ORFF-estra, was chosen because the instruments were designed by the German composer, Carl Orff. The students in the Orffestra will work to improve their mallet skills as well as their note and rhythm reading skills. They will work together each week to create "orffestrations" that are challenging, fun, and exciting to play!
PE Club-Coming Soon
Hawks PE club will provide opportunities for students to experience a variety of physical activities that will contribute to an active lifestyle and enhance their leisure-time physical activity. Oh yea, let’s not forget…..HAVE FUN!
Robotics Club-Coming Soon
Jenna ElmankabadyRobotics Club is a club for first and second grade students who are interested in learning about and working with robots. They will learn coding skills as well as problem solving and critical thinking skills. We meet once a week to have fun and enjoy learning!

Ukulele Club-Coming Soon

In Ukulele Club, students will work on strumming skills and learn a variety of basic chords. Students will play together as an ensemble a variety of repertoire with an emphasis on current pop music.
