Hi there! My name is Sarah Ackerman and I have been teaching since 2012. I taught for 7 years in Gwinnett County. This is my 3rd year teaching in Oconee County at Malcom Bridge Elementary. I absolutely love it here and know MBES is my home. Throughout my teaching career, I have taught 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Gwinnett College and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Reading and Mathematics from Walden University. I am a gifted education and ESOL endorsed teacher and also have experience working with Special Education students. Currently I am working towards my specialist degree for Instructional Technology, Media, and Design, and this fall I will begin courses for a dyslexia endorsement.
I live in Watkinsville with my husband Bryan, our three children Gracie (17), Ben (8), Emma (1) along with our Irish Cream Golden Retriever, Sam. In my free time I enjoy reading books, taking pictures, relaxing on my back porch, and watching movies with my family.
I am excited to have your child in my class this year! I have a motto that I strongly believe forms the structure of my classroom: Learning for All, Whatever It Takes. My hope is for all of my students to become life-long learners and display a confidence which follows them throughout their lives.
