School Attendance
School hours are from 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Children should arrive between 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. There is no supervision prior to 7:15 a.m., so children should not arrive before then.
The school day begins promptly at 7:45 a.m., and classroom instructions begins immediately after the morning announcments. For students to get the overview of the day and the first moments of instruction, it is important that they be in class on time each day. Students arriving after 7:50 a.m. are counted as tardy for the day. Likewise, an early check-out is counted as a tardy because the student is missing instructional time.
Our school goal is a daily average attendance rate of 96.75%. We know daily attendance supports academic success. Students should be in school every day they are well. In the event of an illness, please send a parent or doctor’s note stating why the child was absent.
If it is necessary for a student to leave school at any time during the day, the student must be signed out by the parent in the office. Please, do not go to the playground or classroom to get the student.
Afternoon Dismissal
All early dismissals must be made through the office, and parents or guardians must sign out the student. If your child plans to ride a different bus, get off the bus at a different place, or be picked up by someone other than a family member, he/she must bring a note from home and have it approved in the office.
Visitors
Visitors, especially parents, are welcome to make appointments to visit. To ensure the safety of the children and the good order to the school, we require that all visitors sign-in at the Main Office and receive a Visitor’s badge. When visitors leave the building, they need to check out in the Main Office.Lunch VisitorsVisitors coming for lunch should sign in at the Main Office and may join the child for lunch at one of our visitor tables in the cafeteria. Only students with a personal visitor will eat at the visitor table. When the class is dismissed from the cafeteria, the child will return to class and the visitor will need to sign out in the Main Office.
Breakfast/Lunch Programs
A student lunch costs $1.75. Breakfast is $1.25. We highly encourage students to eat the school prepared lunch. We request parents pay in advance for meals, and checks are the preferred method of payment. Confidential free or reduced price meal applications are distributed at the beginning of the year to each student and are available from the lunchroom office at any time during the year.
The collection procedure is to bring the lunch money in on Monday in an envelope with the child’s name, grade, homeroom teacher’s name, and amount of money on the envelope. You may pay by the week, month, year or any combination of time intervals. You can also pay for lunch on line through the district web site.
School meals are planned according to USDA and State of Georgia guidelines. Lunch times will be assigned for each class. Good table manners in the cafeteria are expected. Trays must be returned to the proper area and eating areas should be left neat and clean.
BreakfastBreakfast will be served prior to 7:40 a.m. for those who wish to eat. Students who wish to eat breakfast should proceed to the cafeteria upon arrival at school and remain there until dismissed. Students should arrive at school early to eat breakfast to avoid being tardy. More specific procedures will be detailed in the first few days of school.
