Emergency Procedures
In order to prepare for emergencies, each school creates an Emergency Plan outlining specific procedures for an emergency situation. In addition to the development of this plan, the schools complete the following drills:
- Lockdown Drills
Every school in Oconee County participates in lockdown drills at least twice per school year. Oconee County Schools partners closely with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and the Oconee County Emergency Management Agency to conduct these drills. Students are taught how to react to a physical threat on campus. Representatives from the Sheriff’s Office and/or Emergency Management Agency are present during these drills to provide feedback during and after these drills to improve safety protocols. All employees have emergency alert badges that they can use to immediately alert local law enforcement. For more information, please click here.
