School Choice

Oconee County Schools has opened its Public School Choice window.  From Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., through Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at 4:00 pm, individuals may submit a request to have their child transferred to another public school within the school system for the 2025-26 school year.

To simplify the school choice process, families will now only need to make two pathway decisions: one for elementary (K-5) and one for secondary (6-12). Previously, families had to choose separately for K-5, 6-8, and 9-12.

Please keep in mind that if you choose to transfer your child to another school within the system, you must assume all costs and responsibilities related to the transportation of your child to and from school for as long as your child remains at that school. All high school students electing to transfer under Public School Choice shall be subject to GHSA eligibility requirements.
