Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship
Oconee County Schools is committed to protecting our students from the inappropriate content on the internet while preparing them for communications in today's world. Filters and various restricted access at the elementary and secondary levels block access to sites deemed unsafe for the educational environment.
These efforts make OCS compliant with the CIPA, the Children’s Internet Protection Act, passed in 2001. CIPA imposes certain types of requirements on any school or library that receives funding for Internet access or internal connections from the E-rate program – a program that makes certain communications technology more affordable for eligible schools and libraries.
