Randi Boykin
Hello! My name is Randi Boykin, and I am so fortunate to serve as an Early Intervention Program (EIP) teacher at HSES.
I will begin by letting you know that I am a graduate of the University of Georgia. After graduation, I taught preschool-aged students with special needs in Greene County as well as here in Oconee at Oconee County Primary School. When High Shoals Elementary opened, I began teaching special education here but have since had positions teaching in general education first grade and fourth grade classrooms. I've earned degrees and endorsements in early childhood education as well as for teaching students who qualify for ESOL and Gifted programs. I also earned a master's degree in school counseling while working at High Shoals, so I put that into practice for two years serving students and families at Oconee Primary School. I am thankful for all of the experiences and opportunities throughout my career in education which have helped me learn how to better serve and support children in our community.
In addition to my years of experience teaching in the classroom, I also worked at Extra Special People as I was completing coursework for my undergraduate degree at UGA. ESP is a local nonprofit organization that supports children and adults with disabilities by providing year-round programming to support their social and physical needs. As a former special education teacher, I am passionate about finding ways to meet the learning needs of all students as well as celebrating the strengths of every student that I support. I still try to do whatever I can to support ESP including to participate in their annual skydiving fundraising event!
My husband Tyler started his career at Rocky Branch Elementary before moving to High Shoals to serve as their school counselor. He is currently the Assistant Principal at Youth Elementary School in Walton County. I have two children who attend Oconee County Schools. Some of my favorite things to do outside of school are volunteering at church and attending my children’s sports/extracurricular activities. Former students of mine may also know that reading and chocolate are two other favorites of mine as well. :)
I am excited to be working with a great team of people who will work hard to make sure that our students have a school year full of progress and fun!
