Mr. Tony McCullers
Mr. McCullers began his educational career as a mathematics teacher at Eastside High School in Covington, Georgia in 2000. While at EHS, Mr. McCullers was an assistant baseball and football coach as well as a club co-sponsor.
In 2005, Mr. McCullers started his tenure in Oconee County teaching mathematics at North Oconee High School. In 2008, he transitioned to the CTAE department where he taught the business and computer science courses at NOHS. During his seven years at North Oconee, Mr. McCullers was the 2009 Teacher of the Year, the CTAE department head, an assistant football coach, the Assistant Head Varsity Baseball Coach, and the sponsor of the Future Business Leaders of America.
Because of his love of teaching and technology, Mr. McCullers moved to the district office of Oconee County Schools to work as an Instructional Technology Specialist in 2012. For three years, he worked closely with the faculty and administrations of all of the schools in Oconee County. During this portion of his career, Mr. McCullers earned a mini-grant from the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce, an educator alumni award from Piedmont College, and a certificate of completion of the Oconee County Schools Aspiring Leaders program. It was during this time that Mr. McCullers earned his K-12 certification in Performance-Based Leadership.
After working closely with students and teachers at the elementary and secondary level, Mr. McCullers was given the opportunity to serve as the Assistant Principal of Oconee County Elementary School in 2015. In the spring of 2016, he was awarded the James McClain Leadership Award by the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. McCullers began serving as the Principal of Colham Ferry Elementary School in the fall of 2016 and was there for six years. Mr. McCullers guided CFES through the Georgia Department of Education's STEM Certification process in 2017 and again in 2022. During the 2020-2021 school year, in addition to his role at CFES, Mr. McCullers also served as the elementary administrator for the district's digital learning students.
Because of his vast teaching and leadership experiences, Mr. McCullers moved to the district office in 2022. He currently serves all 11 schools as the Director of Assessment and School Improvement for Oconee County Schools.
Mr. McCullers is a resident of Oconee County with his wife, Julie, an EIP teacher at Dove Creek Elementary School, and his two children, Cam and Maeve.
