Lynne Ely


Lynne Ely teaches English at OCHS. Since 1994, she has taught every class, currently teaching AP Language/American Literature and SAT Prep. She has been a Reader for AP English Literature for the past 5 summers where she enjoys working with college and AP high school instructors from across the country. Ms. Ely loves to teach the complex works that are tested on the AP Lit exam and to discover new texts as they are added. She also enjoys challenging students become critical consumers of all things rhetorical and to read critically and craft arguments. She served as English Department Chair from 2006-13.


Ms. Ely coaches Girls and Boys Cross Country.  Head Coach since 2012, she worked as assistant coach since 1997.  The last four years the teams have been in top 10 at the State Meet, with both teams earning top 4 in 2014, and Boys winning State runners up in 2015.


Sponsor of the Literary Club, Ms. Ely works enjoyed working with the essayists in Literary Competition this year. Personal - She taught both of her children here at OCHS.
