Claire Ashley

My name is Claire Ashley and I will be your child's second grade teacher this year.  I completed my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education in 1997 and began teaching Title I at Oglethorpe Avenue in Clarke County August 1998.  After teaching for two years, I went back to school to pursue a Master’s in Early Childhood Education and decided to go to Barrow County to teach 1st grade at Yargo Elementary School.  I taught there for two years and wanted to pursue a Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction and wanted to be closer to home, so I came to RBES to teach 4th grade.

Math became a focus of professional development at Rocky Branch, so I added a math endorsement to my certificate in 2006.  Completing my gifted endorsement Spring 2015 has helped ensure that I meet the students’ needs by providing enrichment exercises.  I have experience teaching all grades kindergarten - fifth.  Prior to my first year of teaching, I was a long-term sub in a 3rd grade classroom for the last half of the school year.  I am very excited about the opportunity to teach second grade this year at RBES.
