Mary M. (Merci) Johnson
My name is Merci Johnson, and I currently serve as a second grade teacher at Rocky Branch Elementary School. I began my career in education in 2005 - after my husband and I had our three children. Initially, I worked at their preschool (Athens First United Methodist). Later, I moved to Rocky Branch as a kindergarten paraprofessional while earning my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Piedmont College. During those summers, I worked at Lindamood-Bell Learning Centers helping students of all ages to read and comprehend. When I graduated from Piedmont, Lindamood-Bell invited me to stay on-board as a Consultant. I worked there until I accepted an Early Intervention Program (EIP) teaching position at Rocky Branch in 2015.
My professional goals include helping students meet their potential, collaborating with fantastic teams of teachers, staff, and administrators, and contributing to the overall success of Oconee County Schools. Personally, I am thankful for the opportunity to work with so many wonderful children and their families. It is a pleasure to come to work each morning!
