    Welcome to the DCES PTO!

     

    Dear Dove Creek Families,

    On behalf of the DCES PTO Executive Board, Welcome!  We are so excited about the 2022-2023 school year! For those of you who are unfamiliar with us, we are a volunteer organization made up of parents, teachers, administrators, and support staff who are all dedicated to the successful education of our children. The purpose of PTO is to aid the students and staff by providing support for educational and recreational needs. We also make a tremendous effort to support the DCES staff continuously throughout the year and let them know how much they are appreciated. The PTO uses its resources, both manpower and monetary, to support all the efforts of our school’s administration and staff.  

    Last year, PTO was able to complete the fundraising for a new outdoor classroom and sensory pathway, as well as upgrade the media center with beautiful new structures designed by local artist, Sheri Veale.  The outdoor learning space includes a gazebo with interactive boards, a sensory pathway and learning area, and a greenhouse. The media center transformation includes large 3D wooden structures that can be utilized for seating and read aloud areas, and will generate excitement among the students each time they enter the media center! This fundraising could not have been done without the help and support of all of our parents. As a PTO, we want to say THANK YOU!

    PTO’s goal for the 2022-2023 school year is to raise money for several exciting new items for our activity classes.  This year, we will continue to support instructional programming as well as boost our focus area of Music & Physical Education. Dragons will get active and be creative with initiatives like expanding risers for our performances and adding new equipment and instruments!

     We invite all of our DCES families to join the PTO.  That can be done by completing the attached membership form.   When your family joins the PTO, each child’s teacher will receive 5 PTO Points.  Please see the membership levels to support our programs and earn your child(ren) extra PTO Points, along with the opportunity to support the teachers through a PTO teacher sponsor.  At the end of the membership drive, the top scoring classes in each grade will win a popsicle party.  Plus, the two classes with the most PTO Points (one in K-2 and one in 3-5) will each win a visit to the Kona Ice truck!  Additionally, when you join PTO you will receive access to an electronic PTO directory.  The membership drive will end on Friday, Aug. 26.

    We encourage you to not only join our organization, but to get involved as well!  Everything we do is dependent on volunteers and we are always looking for parents to help make a difference in the lives of our children. Please see the volunteer section on the membership form to indicate any areas you are interested in serving.  

    We invite you to join our Facebook group (Dove Creek Elementary School PTO) to keep up-to-date with PTO and school events. Additionally, we have a PTO page on the school’s website where you can electronically complete  the membership/volunteer and spirit wear order forms, and you can also stay updated on PTO happenings during the school year. 

    Finally, you can immediately begin supporting PTO by linking your Amazon account to AmazonSmile. By doing this, 0.5% of all purchases will be donated to Dove Creek Elementary PTO. Simply visit smile.amazon.com and search for “Dove Creek Elementary PTO” to link your account. 

    We have several great events already planned for this year, and we hope that you will join us at our first PTO meeting to learn more about them.  The meeting will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18th, at 5:00 p.m. in the Media Center.
