Welcome to Computer Science at Oconee County Middle School

 

All computer science classes utilize project-based instruction to explore the principles of computer science as they relate to living, working, and competing in a 21st century global society.

 

6th Grade:  Foundations of Secure Information Systems

Welcome to Foundations of Secure Information Systems!  

The goal of this course is to introduce students to the basic principles of computers, networks, problem-solving, the OSI Model, cybersecurity, and digital citizenship, as well as provide opportunities for students to explore and research present career options in information technology.

7th Grade:  Foundations of Computer Programming

Welcome to Foundations of Computer Programming! 

The goal of this course is to introduce students to explore the basic components of computers, utilize computational thinking and problem-solving, learn designing, developing, and debugging of computer programs, and create digital artifacts, as well as provide opportunities for students to explore and research present career options in information technology.

8th Grade:  Foundations of Interactive Design

Welcome to Foundations of Interactive Design!  

The goal of this course is to introduce students to foundational skills required for the design and development of websites and games.  Students will utilize computational thinking and problem-solving skills, learn how to design, develop, and debug websites and gaming programs, create digital artifacts, as well as provide opportunities for students to explore and research present career options in information technology.

In addition to teaching Computer Science, I have the pleasure of serving as Yearbook Advisor for the second year in a row, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to assist the Yearbook Staff with capturing the many magnificent memories that will be made during 2019-2020 school year.
