• The MBMS H.E.R.O. Club exists to promote a caring community and friendships between non-disabled and disabled students.  The acronym H.E.R.O. means “Helping Everyone Reach Out.”   In today’s middle schools, students with intellectual disabilities often learn in the same building, walk the same hallways, and attend some of the same classes as their non-disabled peers, but are often left out of social activities.  The H.E.R.O. Club is dedicated to ensuring that everyone has opportunities to have a friend.  Many of our members feel good about their contribution, as they realize they can make a difference in the life of another.  Our eighth grade students also have unique opportunities for leadership as they make decisions regarding the direction the club will take and as they plan socialization activities.
