Born and raised in Georgia, my siblings and I were brought up by kind, honest, hard-working parents who immigrated to the U.S. after graduating from the National Taiwan University.
I earned my first bachelor's at the University of Georgia studying journalism and graphic art, sociology, and Chinese language and literature. During the summers of my Bulldog years, I worked with rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders as a 4-H camp counselor. From sun-up to sun-down, I was busy coaching kids through low-ropes obstacle courses, zip lines and climbing walls, teaching arts and crafts, helping with outdoor recreation, creating and performing skits and dance routines, teaching cheers and wiping fears. Little did I know, all of these experiences would lead me to become an educator.
After graduating from UGA, I attended the John H. Loundsbury School of Education of Georgia College and State University where I discovered my true passion - teaching middle grades mathematics. It was a perfect blend of many things I enjoyed. Since then, I have earned a master's in middle grades education, a specialist in curriculum and instruction, and certification to teach gifted students.
I have 16 years of experience teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math to students of varying levels. This year, I am super excited to work with the 6th Grade Math Department of Oconee County Middle School. We will explore fundamental concepts that can be used in everyday life, and will continue developing a strong mathematical foundation for future math and science courses to build upon.
My mission is to help my students become excellent problem solvers and citizens - individuals who are loving, open-minded, productive, resilient, and creative. My husband is also dedicated to supporting our youth as a child and adolescent therapist in Oconee County where we currently reside. We love this community and want to help it thrive!
