My name is Becca Thorpe.  I hold an Educational Specialist Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia, a Master’s Degree from Piedmont College, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Georgia.  Before joining the Dove Creek team, I spent 9 years teaching in the Clarke County School District.  I have taught five different grade levels and served as team leader for both my Kindergarten and first grade teams.  I have enjoyed working with so many different personalities, and I have certainly learned a lot about the importance of collaboration.  I became a teacher because I enjoy children and find it very rewarding to make an impact on students, whether it is academically, emotionally, behaviorally, or otherwise.  I also would not be fit for a desk job, as I cannot sit still and am constantly on the move. 

Outside of teaching, I enjoy pretty much all outdoor activities. I am an avid mountain biker and runner.  I love exploring new trails and going on group runs.  Swimming was my first love.  I used to be a swimmer and spent many summers coaching swim team at Summer Hill.  I still spend part of my summers in the pool giving private swim lessons.  I also enjoy traveling to national parks and visiting new places.  I am an adventure seeker and encourage all of my students to enjoy life and dream big!
