Mrs. Jennifer Smith
Hello! My name is Jennifer Smith, and I am so excited to be the adapted curriculum teacher at Rocky Branch Elementary School! I have been in the field of special education since 2000 when I graduated with my master's degree in special education from the University of Georgia. I have had the privilege of working in many different avenues in the field over the years! For the first four years after graduation, I taught the adapted curriculum class at Monroe Area High School. It was during this time I fell in love with the classroom and teaching students functional academics and pre-vocational skills. Following the classroom, I spent approximately eight years working as a special instructor for Babies Can't Wait. It was such a joy working with infants, young children, and their families. While working with Babies Can't Wait, an opportunity opened allowing me to become an instructor and supervisor for students studying special education at the University of Georgia. I was an infield supervisor and instructor for the Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education at UGA for ten years. Now, I feel back at home, in the classroom, teaching your children pre-academic, functional, daily living, communication, and recreation skills. Thank you for trusting me with your children and their education!
My husband and I have been married since 1997 and we have three beautiful girls. My oldest daughter attends Lee University. My middle daughter attends North Oconee High School, and my youngest daughter is a 7th grader at Malcom Bridge Elementary School. Our family loves to spend time in the North Georgia mountains, and we love to take an annual trip to the Florida coast. Most importantly, our 7lb. poodle named Maggie, receives the most love and attention from all of us!
I look forward to a great year!
