Katie Avery
Katie Avery is the Early Childhood Education teacher at North Oconee. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2005 with a degree in family and consumer sciences education. She began her teaching career at Mill Creek High School in Gwinnett County. There she taught courses in fashion, textiles, food nutrition, child development, elderly, and education. She achieved additional degrees as well; her masters in curriculum, instruction, and assessment from Walden University, as well as her education specialist in leadership from Liberty University. In 2013, she made the choice to stay home with her 3 beautiful children full time. In 2020, Katie Avery eagerly jumped back into the classroom, teaching all three levels of early childhood education at North! She also facilitates the internships of her students with local elementary schools and preschools. She serves as the FCCLA advisor. In addition to work, she loves to spend time with her children, family, and friends, exercise, running, and being outdoors and on the lake.
