Merya Turner

I am blessed to have a career that I love and am passionate about, and I am fortunate to work with an amazing team of educators, students, and families.

After earning my Bachelors of Science in Interrelated Special Education at Augusta University in 2001, I began teaching in Columbia County, Georgia. In 2014, I completed a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Autism at Arizona State University. I moved to this area in 2016 and completed my Educational Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of West Georgia.

I have taught many subjects through the years, but have focused the last several years on English Language Arts at the high school and middle school levels. This is my first year teaching public speaking and debate, and I absolutely love it!

On a more personal note: I am a connoisseur of coffee and chocolate. I enjoy spending time outdoors, especially in the mountains. I love the arts including theater, art, and music. Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, and football is my favorite sport. My husband and I have five children and two beautiful huskies, Zoe and Sienna.

I look forward to a great year!
