My name is Teddi Shriner, and I am excited to be one of the school counselors at Dove Creek Middle School! I have been a school counselor since the 2013-2014 school year. I attended UGA for both my undergraduate and Master's degree programs. I made my way to the Athens, Georgia, area to attend UGA in 2004 after growing up in Rome, GA. Before coming to the Oconee County School System, I was a middle school counselor at Madison County Middle School from 2013-2021. From 2021-2023, I solely provided mental health services as a licensed professional counselor in private practice in Athens as well as a community counselor for The Social Empowerment Center during the 2021-2022 school year. I enjoy traveling, running, playing basketball, watching all things UGA Football and The Braves, writing, baking, volunteering, and spending time with my family and friends. I live in Athens, Georgia, with my husband, who is also a middle school educator, our son, as well my mom, who is a stroke survivor, and our sweet dog. I also have two wonderful step-daughters who live in the Athens area. My passion is empowering students and their families to achieve their educational and personal goals by providing research-based counseling interventions in a safe, caring, and supportive environment. I believe that schools, families, and the community must work together to achieve this goal.
