My career began in 1991 in Jackson County where I taught Business Education classes to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at the origninal Jackson County Middle School.  After spending three years there, an opportunity opened up at West Hall High School in Oakwood, Georgia where I taught a wide variety of Business and Computer classes.  My course load included Computer Applications I and II, Accounting I, Accounting II, Banking and Finance, Business Law, and Web Page Design.  I also sponsored the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter, and during my nine years at West Hall, I was Adviser to the Region IX State Vice President for 3 straight years.  During that time I was nominated multiple times and voted Teacher of the Year once and FBLA Adviser of the Year once.

In 2003, I made the decision to leave Hall County to move closer to my wife's work in Athens.  After leaving West Hall, I transitioned to the role of Adjunct Teacher at Athens Technical College.  I taught Computer Applications, Keyboarding, Business Procedures, and Advanced Microsoft Excel classes for a year-and-a-half before coming to Oconee County Middle School in January of 2005. Once at OCMS, I taught Buisiness and Computer Science half the year and Career Development for the other half of the year.  Currently, I am teaching all Career Development classes.  I've been a finalist for Teacher of the Year several times, and I currently sponsor the FBLA chapter which has won multiple awards at the region and state levels.

Beyond the classroom, I have been privileged to be part of many opportunities at the local, county, and state levels of education.  I have reviewed courses for the Georgia Virtual School, and I have served on several teams at the state level where my experiences included serving as Treasurer for the Georgia Business Education Association, writing/reviewing curriculum, reviewing teacher certification tests & criteria, and coordinating region & state conferences for FBLA.  I have also served on two committees at the GaDOE providing input and planning for the Georgia Career Pipeline and the "Counselor Companion" resource for the Georgia State Longitudinal Data System.  In 2016, our FBLA had 13 top 5 winners at the state conference , took 2nd place overall in competitive events points, and I even received Outstanding Middle Level Adviser of the Year!  Our FBLA is awesome! I've also served in various ways at the county level in every school system where I've worked.  Some of these experiences include serving on various committees such as  Technology, Technical College Articulation, Oconee Business Education Advisory Committe, and Oconee CTAE Leadership Team. I have also taught community/adult education classes and co-sponsored a county-wide "Student of the Quarter" program.  At the local school level, I am a past member of the Technology Committee, School-wide Leadership Team, and served for 2 years on our Local School Council.

My wife of 25 years and I are members at Briarwood Baptist Church, and we have two children, two rescue dogs, and a goldfish named "Mo."  "Mo" was also rescued from the Georgia National Fair when I won him while there for the FBLA State Fall Rally in 2014.

My personal passions include backpacking/camping, shooting sporting clays, watching good movies, playing golf, and using Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint and Excel).  My greatest joys in teaching include witnessing student growth, discovering how my teaching helps students (especially when I see them after they've left OCMS), and seeing our FBLA members step up to the challenges provided to overcome fears and develop self-confidence.
