Charlotte Chromiak has been teaching in public schools since 2006. She took her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Georgia and her Master of Music degree in Orff-Schulwerk at the University of Memphis. Ms. Charlotte is a native of Athens, and lives there with her family. She previously taught dance and preschool, and has also taught in the Clarke County School District. In addition to enjoying and creating music, Ms. Charlotte enjoys traveling, reading, kayaking, yoga, and other arts and outdoor activities with her family.

Music classes at OCPS are taught following the Orff-Schulwerk philosophy. This is an approach to music education that is based on the belief that the easiest, most effective method of teaching music is to draw out the student's natural interests in rhythm and melody and allow these to develop gradually. The child is led by intuition from simple to more sophisticated expression, beginning with speech patterns, rhythmic movement, and two-note melodies, and moving logically into more complex melodies and rhythms. Students in an Orff classroom are encouraged to be expressive and to explore musicality in their own ways. They sing, move, play instruments, and use manipulatives and technology daily. You won't see them sitting still for long!

Visitors are always welcome in the music room. Please contact Ms. Charlotte if you would like to visit a music class!
