OCS among fastest growing districts in the state
Oconee County Schools has seen tremendous growth over the last five years, with 1000 more students enrolling in the district’s ten schools. Based on Georgia Department of Education data, OCS is the #1 fastest growing district in Northeast Georgia with 3500 or more students.
“In Oconee County, we are blessed to have a strong and supportive community, and are pleased that families from all around are choosing to make their home in this wonderful place,” said Superintendent Jason Branch. “I appreciate the work of our district-level divisions to help plan for growth and the needed renovations and building projects that result from that growth.”
Data reflecting overall growth is below. All numbers are based on the first day of school each year, to allow for a similar comparison to the current school year:

When comparing the 13 districts in the Northeast Georgia RESA, OCS has the 5th largest overall enrollment and has grown 15.4% since 2013. In addition, from state reportable numbers from 2013-17, 1865 students transferred to OCS from other public school districts, and 689 more transferred from private schools.
