Mr. Theodore Thorp
Mr. Thorp's teaching career started in 2012. Prior to this, Mr. Thorp worked for U.S. Bank and helped to develop an outreach program for teaching inner city students about personal finance and the financial institutions. It was through this work with students that prompted Mr. Thorp to go back to school and acquire a teaching license. Since then, Mr. Thorp has worked across many different grade levels, spending his career thus far in Yuma, AZ. In 2012, Mr. Thorp started as a computer sciences teacher to K-6th grade students. The following school year, Mr. Thorp went into a standard classroom as a 3rd Grade teacher. In 2014, Mr. Thorp helped start the Gowan Achievement Program working with high achieving and gifted students in grades 4th-6th grade at his school. During the following 4 years, Mr. Thorp helped to establish the program and developed a highly rigorous science program for his entire campus. In 2019, Mr. Thorp was brought over to the science academy in his district to work as the 6th and 7th grade science teacher. He has now transitioned out to the east coast to work in the Oconee County district with primary school students.

Mr. Thorp is passionate about rigor in the classroom and that every child is capable of success. His goals are to help every student achieve their goals both in and out of his classroom and to provide motivation for this success. His classroom will regularly be engaged with hands-on learning and authentic learning experiences. He works to do this by integrating all subject areas and to help students understand why we learn information. Most importantly, he believes that school is supposed to be fun and works diligently to provide fun experiences with lots of laughter in his classroom. In his classroom, everyone is a teacher and everyone is a student.
Mr. Thorp has lived in many different places over his life including California, New Mexico, Japan, Colorado, Arizona, and now Georgia. He loves to visit new places and to meet new and interesting people. He owns two dogs, Juno and Titan.
